Some Football Thoughts

First: Atlanta vs. Pittsburgh. The refs screwed up YET again. The time out right at the end and the take-away on the 62-yard FG. Bad enough they whistled it dead AFTER the snap. Even worse that they took away the FG. They should have had it reviewed by the booth and the score count.

Pathetic. The announcer even said it. The replay CLEARLY showed it. But the refs screw it up again.

Now granted, it's nicer to see the game go into OT and the Hawks pummel the Steelers like little bitches on their OT drive (longer than I would have driven, even in Madden) to win.

But it would be very nice to see the refs get it right in the first place.


Second: SCREW NEW ORLEANS! (Not really football related, but sort of since it was inspired by Bill Simmons' comments on how teams might be going easy on New Orleans since "they're already down, they need sports wins to feel better about themselves". To which I say "FUCK THAT!"

I am beyond sick and tired of hearing about "the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina". Tired of the PSAs, tired of Emeril's commercial on Food Network, all of it.

Yes, things got messed up because of government incompetence at every level. Yes, things are hard.

And yet, how many other areas of the hurricane-plagued areas like Mississippi are still messed up and in need of millions of dollars and our pity a year later?

Could it be because the city is populated by welfare whiners and parasites getting free trailers?

If the government wasn't giving these leeches freebies (and exactly how long is all this to last?) they might have some impetus to fix their own damn city.

The only Katrina shows is that letting liberal douches run cities is a recipe for disaster. And the welfare state is a complete failure that should have its plug pulled.
