This is completely believeable to me. Not the fact of the cure, mind you. The fact that there is likely a cure that will never be used by the medical industry because of government bureaucracy and the profit motive of the pharmaceutical companies.
I'm sure somehow, somewhere a company will start up and cure cancer with cheap medicine. Heck, they'll probably have them right over the border in Mexico. They'll just be able to charge a whole lot more than they would if the cure were commonly accepted and used here. And since it will likely have to be in another country, really poor folks will have to work around "the system" in order to spend a few bucks and NOT die.
You can see the headlines now: "Black market cancer doctors put poor's health on the line!"
