Anyone here ever fast?

Just wondering what you thoughts were. If you've done it, please note the type of fasting, results and feelings on the subject.

Primal Living

On reading up on it over at LRC.com, I bought THIS book. It's a very fun read and I think it's great advice.

It has been an interesting experiment. For about a month, I've been eschewing carbs as much as possible (not always easy, especially eating out), and focusing on meat, fat, fruits and veggies. I've also started doing pushups and deep knee bends. I also try to walk more around the massive building in which I work. A punching bag and a pullup bar would be great investments too.

The author espouses the "80/20 rule". Simply put, it's the idea that if you follow his guidelines 80% of the time, you're still going to do much, much better than eating "normally".

My weaknesses have been mostly at breakfast, since I love toast and biscuits and gravy. But I'm fairly sure that I'm saving money since I'm not buying nearly as much bread. And I'm skipping snacks like pretzels and chips altogether. I've also ditched pasta and all starchy side dishes with dinner. Usually, I just stick with meat and veggies.

I'm hungry a lot of the time, but it's strangely become easier to be hungry. Especially reflecting on the phrase "Hunger is fat leaving your body". I skip lunch a few times a week and don't miss is all that much.

I've lost 5 lbs according to the scale at work (which, admittedly might be off but if it's consistent I'm still shedding pounds). If I stopped drinking beer and hard liquor, I'd probably be much further along in my weight loss. But hey... you can't expect miracles all the time!

Here's to losing another 30 and finally getting my guns.

EDIT: I cannot believe I forgot about spaghetti squash as an alternative for pasta! Man, I am a dimwit sometimes!

Remind of that HERE.

KIDNEY-BAY

Say it out loud. That's just what I mean. Auctioning off kidneys.

We should get rid of the laws against selling of human organs. If I wanna hawk off one of my kidneys for fun, profit and sex - HEY! It's my right as an American!

But then again I think we should go back to selling cocaine at CVS so I know I'm weird.

I'm still waiting for a good objection to my selling one of my kidneys.

In fact, in case something goes wrong with the remaining one, I would say you get an institutional discount if you ever need to procure one for yourself.

I'm a marketing genius.

"When Obama socializes medicine, take your baby to Mars!"

Sounds right to me. Where will dem Canucks go after the dolt Obama and his retarded accomplicii (sic) destroy what little is left of the free market in health care?

You will not see things like this for long if they get their way. Prayers for the little one sent.

What An Awful Thing...

I've never heard of this. And I despise Slick Willie. But it's hard not to feel sympathy for this, if true.

Losing my mental abilities would drive me mad. It would be even worse to know or feel your faculties going away.

This is why I intend to ride motorcycles my whole life. That way, should my brain start to go then hopefully I'll just go splat on some twisties somewhere.

OOPS! The link might help:

Coochie-Coochie Puke...

From Rachel Lucas' blog (here):

"Williams, who has more than 20 years of experience as a nurse working with older adults, says that based on this assumption, many hospital and nursing-home caregivers communicate in “elderspeak.”

This includes using basic vocabulary and grammar, speaking in a high-pitched or loud voice, sounding overly caring or controlling, and using terms of endearment such as “honey” and “sweetie,” Williams says.

“Elderspeak is a kind of talk or communication that is common between younger adults and older adults in a variety of settings,” she says, adding that it’s not too far from “baby talk.”

But her latest study, presented Monday at the 2008 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease, shows that this language might have the opposite effect.

…When staff members spoke in elderspeak, the residents’ resistance to care nearly doubled compared with when staff spoke normally.

Even in silence, dementia patients were more cooperative than when hearing elderspeak."

I hate baby talk. I've hated it for a long time. Even babies should never have to endure the idiocy that is baby talk. It's insulting to their dignity and does nothing to stir their brains.

But the very idea that one can be in a home having to endure adults talking to you like that is maddening.

But that's pretty much par for the course. Many health care "professionals" routinely talk down to you as a patient. I don't know why they automatically assume you're an imbecile, but far too many do so.

Having a fat-ass nurse lecture me on "what's healthy" has especially made me want to hurt someone more than once.

Fuck Soy!

It increases your estrogen production. Which I doubt is all that good for anyone except maybe post-menopausal women.

Now they find it causes... what was it again... OH YEAH! Memory Loss! And dementia!

Do not eat this crap. It's fake food disguised as something healthy. Like margarine. Another "healthy alternative" that just does little things like give you heart attacks.

I do believe animals will not eat margarine. I wonder if they touch soy?

Remind Me To Get Those Penis Barbells...

Just for WW (and more importantly, for her husband...)

This is going to be another of my marriage rules.

1: Dresses or skirts only, with no panties
2: Get to lifting up to 10lbs with her hoochie.

These are non-negotiable. Of course, I'm already a MC (Master Cocksman, duh... what guy ISN'T?).

I also need to get a job where I get to help women figure out it they have a G-SPOT or not.

But I need to have the right to refuse to examine some women. I mean, really... think how many fouls crotches there must be out there.

I HATE This City...

I need my log cabin in the middle of nowhere... with a cable modem. So long as I have X-Box Live and my internet addictions serviced, I'll be fine.

So why the post?

I cleaned my tea kettle. I have to do so periodically, to clean the mineral deposits out of it. So I put vinegar in it the other day, let it soak two days and brought it to a boil. Poured it out...

The liquid was GREEN. Curiously tinted like the green, rotted penny looking crud that forms on the toilet bowl in my mostly-unused small bathroom.

God only knows what showering in this chemical crud is doing to my health.

Milky Madness...

From HERE.

"State Agriculture Secretary Dennis C. Wolff said advertising one brand of milk as free from artificial hormones implies that competitors' milk is not safe, and it often comes with what he said is an unjustified higher price."

"Unjustified high price"? How can you say it's "unjustified"?? If anyone buys it,
doesn't that show the price is justified? How paternalistic is this shit?

The more the government seems to oppose the more organic side of milk, the more I'm intrigued to try it. Too bad most ways to get it involve buying a share of a cow.

Serendipity...or not??? (Definitely NOT!)

No... not the movie. The word essentially means "fortuitous accident". Like using a diving rod to find water, but hitting oil instead.

You know, the kind of cool stuff that never happens to me.

Anyway... today I found myself stuck for over a half hour across the street from Kahn's Wines today. Great store. New location, MUCH more space. They've expanded their stock/selection and offer free tastings of lots of spirits! I'm not sure how that works, but I really need to go back soon to find out. Especially since they offer tasting of their expensive bourbons! (I know I like Bookers, but any free bourbon has to be good bourbon, right?

So I bought the 750ML bottle of Sailor Jerry's spiced rum and, and, AND!!!! got a free pack of SJ playing cards to boot!

Nice score, eh? Not really. Just a very, very tiny bit of serendipity glomming onto the sole of my shoe, giving me a scintillating glimpse of hope before drowning into an eddy of despair. (tip o' the hat to Angel Reese!)

So those were my thoughts late last night. Until I woke up today.

I've only had one hangover in my life. It was after a really, really bad New Year's Eve get-together where I'm pretty certain I had some serious alcohol poisoning. If someone had offered to kill me, I'm quite sure I'd have gladly had them do so.

Today was my second. I felt like crap. I didn't even drink that much of my rum. But here I sit, still feeling nasty at 1am the next night.

I'm never drinking again.

BUT RED PHONES SAVE LIVES!!!!!!

Yeah. Right.

"But the patient, if one will listen carefully, may have provided a full explanation of the efficacy of the dictator’s dream-potion. He has been HIV-positive since 1996. What a strange virus this is, that threatened to ravage North America so many years ago, as once a healthy person caught it (which could happen quite easily through normal sexual contact, we were told), the incurable and unstoppable disease AIDS always set in, inevitably killing the patient. Today in North America, the only people who are killed by AIDS are the same people who have always been killed by it, i.e., severe drug abusers and/or homosexual men engaging in a certain sexual practice (usually both). So the AIDS "disease" has moved on to a new market, Africa, where millions of people are supposedly infected with the HIV virus and are going to start dying any day now. Yet, Ousman Sow had the virus from 1996 until 2003, seven years, before he started taking the antiretrovirals to "save" his life. It was then, I would be willing to bet, he started really experiencing his "HIV symptoms." Within only four weeks of ceasing the antiretrovirals, he regained lost weight and felt well again.

The cure that our witch doctor has inadvertently found may be nothing more getting "HIV positive" patients off their antiretrovirals."

AIDS is a scam to get payoffs from world governments, charities and NGOs. Don't shoot up and don't let fags bugger you and you'll be okay.

Why Little Boys Need To Be Dirty At All Times.

And why bigger boys should be dirty more often. (That reminds me, I have to get going on my garden...)

From HERE.

"Getting dirty may lift your mood
Bacteria found in the soil activated a group of neurons that produce the brain chemical serotonin"

and...

"Dr Chris Lowry, lead author on the paper from Bristol University, said: "These studies help us understand how the body communicates with the brain and why a healthy immune system is important for maintaining mental health. They also leave us wondering if we shouldnt all be spending more time playing in the dirt."

So get dirty!

Good Points On Stupid Socialist Healthcare

Joseph Farah on Cuba's socialized medicine.

An excerpt: "Let me leave you with one last thought: When was the last time you heard of some wealthy sick guy who chose to go to Cuba for treatment rather than, say, the Mayo Clinic or Johns Hopkins University?"

Cancer Cured! Too Bad You're Gonna Croak Anyway, You Tumor Ridden LOSER!

http://www.lewrockwell.com/walker/walker24.html

This is completely believeable to me. Not the fact of the cure, mind you. The fact that there is likely a cure that will never be used by the medical industry because of government bureaucracy and the profit motive of the pharmaceutical companies.

I'm sure somehow, somewhere a company will start up and cure cancer with cheap medicine. Heck, they'll probably have them right over the border in Mexico. They'll just be able to charge a whole lot more than they would if the cure were commonly accepted and used here. And since it will likely have to be in another country, really poor folks will have to work around "the system" in order to spend a few bucks and NOT die.

You can see the headlines now: "Black market cancer doctors put poor's health on the line!"

More prohibitional nonsense in our future, I fear.

More Food For Food Thought... Or Something Like That...

Tip of the hat to this column.

From this book:
"One of the biggest evil influences on our diet is the presence of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), a sugar substitute that itself is a sugar found in soft drinks and many other sweet, processed foods. The problem is that HCFS inhibits leptin secretion, so you never get the message that you’re full. And it never shuts off gherin, so, even though you have food in your stomach, you constantly get the message that you’re hungry." (See page 192.)

This does not surprise me in the least if it's true. How else can I eat half a bag of Double-Stuff Mint Oreos in one sitting right after dinner and still feel starved? True, I'm on a steroid right now and those make me voracious (I love that word!). But still...

My only problem with the Lew Rockwell column isn't even an issue with the column itself. It's that stevia really sucks. It has a nasty aftertaste that I cannot personally overcome. And I really wanted to. Sweet taste with virtually zero calories? At least four cups of hot tea every day at work? That's got to be worth five pounds over the course of a year. Oh well.

I actually use a "raw" sugar. It's a dusky brown and tastes faintly of molasses. With all the tea I drink at work all day, I prefer not to stuff refined white sugar into my guts.

That's my philosophy with all foodstuffs. The less processing and the shorter the time and distance between ground where the plant grew and my mouth, the better.

No Thanks. I'll Take The Cavities...

Keep on brushing with Fluoride Crest!

Quotes:
At the end of Morony’s presentation, Cole asked him, “So let me clarify: if we continue adding fluoride, we are putting in our water a byproduct of the fertilizer industry?”

“That’s right,” Morony said.

and

Cole asked Lomas, “How do employees at the water plant feel about handling fluoride?”

“It’s a very corrosive chemical. It eats through concrete and metal. When they handle it, they have to wear respirators and chemical-proof suits,” Lomas said.

“But how do they feel about handling it?” Cole asked.

“They really would rather not handle it,” Lomas replied.

Cole then made her motion to cease fluoridation of the city’s water, with Wrob giving the second.

Any questions?

All this ignores the fact that the Russians used fluoride to weaken the will of prisoners.

I've been using non-fluoride toothpaste for years now, even though it is a major pain in the ass to find the stuff at normal stores. And my teeth are just fine.

I hate my own guts...

...because they hate me first. I'm home sick. It came on very suddenly after eating some Life cereal before work. Have I been poisoned? Hmmmmm... maybe I can sue and get rich.

The plus side is that I should have time to finish my Boston blogging.
