This is a greatly oversold story of really very little interest in the military. At least where I work, people are more likely to talk about their favorite flavor of beer than this issue. This is just a simple matter of the Army firing one guy who would not do what he was told. We do it all the time. Thousands of times a year. Sometimes it gets major news coverage, but mostly it doesn't. People in the Army, just like people in your line of work, are expected to do what the boss tells them, or risk getting fired.
That is all that happened here.
Some people are making a big deal about how we kick out hundreds of homosexuals every year. But, just like this guy, it is not that important.
Obviously, I disagree. This ain't going away until he's out of office one way or another.
There is simply no rational purpose for not producing the legit documents last year when the issue first popped up.
I just wish the WND rep at the White House would simply ask the dipshit press secretary "Why should anyone accept a document that could have been given to someone born outside the country? And why is it so difficult to produce a document that everyone needs to play Little League or get a driver's license?"
you do realize that these are two completely different issues, don't you? You can be a "birther" and still think this guy is a moron who deserves what he gets. You don't have to support his cause just because he says he supports yours.

Have YOU ever considered that maybe you could take his argument at face value? From this comment and the ones at Vox', it sure doesn't sound like it.
I did take it at face value. As such, he has no case. At face value, individual soldiers have no right or obligation to question the eligibility of elected officials before they can obey signed written orders that are correctly distributed through the right channels.
He never gets to ask the question. He is wrong before it ever gets that far.
Even if Obama is proven to be illigitimate in the paper tomorrow morning, this guy still has not case. He can be 100% right about his assertion but he is still 100% wrong about his claim that it matters and is a cause to keep him out of deployment.
Condescension is not my intention. Tone does not always come through accurately in this medium. I have on opinion on this because I am close to the issue of Army service, not to the issue of presidential politics. Many of the supportive posts at VD confuse the two issues. They accept that if Obama has no birth certificate, then MAJ Cook is right. But the truth in this case is independent from the eligibility of the President.
Okay, we can agree to disagree because I think that position is just nuts.
