Atheistic and Agnostic Pussies
A stupid thing I keep noticing on the net, especially in Vox's blog's comment sections.
These folks that assert that there is no God, or that they haven't a clue, BOTHER taking offense when someone judges them under the rules of the Bible.
Why the FUCK do they care?
That "fake" deity doesn't exist, right?
So why do these whiny little pussies get their panties all in a wad over being judged by rules that don't matter in the least?
The answers are, of course:
1) that they are total pussies and cannot stand being judged by anyone or anything. Even if the consequences of that judgment amount to nothing in their "worldview".
2) they're terrified that the judgment is dead on and that they will be called to account for it at some later time.
Again, pussies.

It's also quite possible their extreme discomfort really stems from the Holy Spirit working to convict them... :-)
Even -perhaps especially- if someone puts ZERO faith in anything else Jesus said, you can bet they will remind any Christian busybody to "judge not". They consider it a silver bullet, a conversation-stopper. They take it to mean that judging others is forbidden. That positive judgments would also be forbidden under this interpretation escapes the notice of those who assume it is un-Christian (not to mention the height of rudeness) to judge. Certainly, if some stranger were to judge these people's actions to be praiseworthy, their itching ears would be pleased, regardless of the source. In that case, the word "judgement" would never enter their heads.
The popular notion that judging others is in itself wrong gave us such damned* nonsense as, "I'm okay, you're okay." In other words, "I won't tell you you're wrong, if you won't tell me I'm wrong." So you do your thing and let me do mine, and let's accept everybody and at least pretend not to notice what they're up to.
And supposedly that'd lead to world peace, and everybody would join hands and sing in perfect harmony like in that old Coke commercial...

Many people that I love and respect think less of me because I am not a Christian, per se.
That makes me feel a bit defensive, and I sometimes might take offense even when judged by a complete stranger...
But I must agree that anyone that walks into the lion's den looking to tell off the believers deserves what they get.

I cannot honestly recall EVER being okay. So the term really doesn't ever apply to me anyhow.
or maybe they are just pissed off at having that stuff shoved in their face yet again...part of the reason they are coming out and saying they are agnostic or atheist is because they don't want it to be an issue in their lives, and that is most likely because they have had it foisted on them and at them from various angles and they just want to stop having to hear it.
take anything...i am sick of american idol, and if someone would then tell me that the reason i am sick of it is not because it is lowering the national iq or dropping the standards for music or pandering to the least common denominator, but because i am jealous or that i am a less than perfect person for it, yeah, i am going o be pissed off.
and btw, i am a Christian. i was born and raised a Christian, had some terrible experiences, really questioed how i felt, and stayed a Christian...but i'll tell you, even as a Christian, i dont really care to hear about it. it is bad enough to catch ot on a personal basis, and if you have ever had a friend go all "Jesus freak" on you and force every conversation to turn towards Jesus every five minutes, and then attack the belief system you have spent your entire life honing and coming up with b/c you arent as obsessive about it as they are, you know what i'm talking about. if youve ever hbad someone come up to you in a mall or something and try to 'witness' to you, no matter what you tell them, even if it that you are a Christian, well, you're not ENOUGH of a Christian...its insulting, and incrdibly pompous and arrogant on their part. what if I'VE got it right and THEY are wrong? never thought about that, i guess...
and if you dont see the danger of injecting religion into politics or piblic policy, then you arent too bright...really, to have someone claiming they are the voice of God and to not do their bidding is to be acting in the face of God? is there any difference between that and the rhetoric that we are so critical of in the muslim world? tell me how being a Christian and claiming to be doing te work of God is any different? tell me, if the devil were going to take over, would he NOT do THAT VERY THING?
there is a reason people tell you never to discuss politics and religion. its becaus we all have spent time coming up with our wn opinions, and it is arrogant to believe that your opinion is more valid...this is what my "Jesus freak" friends would do all the time...lecture me on things, make little comments that suggested i was doing something wrong...the big irony? after a few years, when they couldnt toe their supremacist, extremist line anymore, they coimpletely turned their back on it, and many of them (at least 4 of this group of 7-9 guys I knew in college) are no longer believers...but I am...who was wrong and who was right, then? if i had listened to them, would i still be a believer?
i honestly sympathize w/atheists and agnostics. i want less, significantly less, religion in public discourse. it is a deeply personal thing that you should be seeking out, not having thrust at you. it should never be foisted on someone against their will...and that is not the same thing as refusing to let someone practice their personal faith (despite what you may have heard, there has NEVER been any law, or even any attempt, to disallow private, personal prayer in schools or anywhere else. )
worship whatever you want. just leave me out of it, anything else is, ironically enough, "special" rights (you know, what nutty right wingers try to say gay people want when they refuse to pass an anti defamation law or refuse to prosecute someone for firebombong a gay nightclub)
..and btw, those religious pop culture t-shirts...are tacky. sorry. your relationship with your God is THE most deeply personal thing in your life. NO ONE else can share that connection you have. it exists ONLY in your spirit and your soul, and it is NOT a commodity, and i dont really think it SHOULD be a topic for public debate and civil conversation, simply because we all deal with it at some point, even if our 'dealing with it' is to take 5 seconds and say 'fuck that!'...its still been dealt with...and to have someone think it is their right to MAKE you believe like they do...my goodness, that is arrogant! SHOVING your faith in someones face is no different than searing a shirt saying "I have a healthy sex life"! tacky, degrading, and demeaning, so stop it.

Anonymous, there are so many things about your comment I'd like to address...
My Christian faith IS a deeply personal part of my life. But it is also intrinsic to who I am. I am not just made in God's image- I bear his NAME. Christians are commanded to share their beliefs with others- not in a mean way, not beating them over the head, not screaming at them, but with love, and joy.
You say that you are a Christian.
Yet you also claim that nobody knows anything about God that's important enough to tell the world.
This may come off as very harsh, but if you truly believe that Christ is who He says He is in the Bible, and that He did what the Bible says He did... then I don't see how you could believe THAT isn't important enough to share with the world- especially in light of the Great Commission.
There is no mealy-mouthed, new-age you-have-your-truth-and-I-have-my-truth wimpiness for a follower of Christ; "I am the way and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" gives no room for touchy-feely cop-outs like “All that matters is that you have beliefs that work for you”.
As wrong as he is, I can actually respect an outpoken enemy of God like Sam Harris- at least he seems to understand that we all must choose a side. And those content to "sit on the fence" in these matters have also picked their side- and it's not God's side (Luke 11:23).
Interesting comment anon. I agree with much of what you said, although I think that there is nothing wrong with a strong show of faith in public, as long as it is clear that the person is acting on their own (rather than as the school principal, for example).
I admire Christians that openly pray, and lead by example; likewise I admire anyone who stands by their beliefs and lives their convictions.
Okay,now. NO serious discussions are to be taking place on MY frikin'blog. Got it?
