My Brother's 1st Crafted Beer

Is pretty dang good. It foams REAL quick though... I spilled some not expecting it to foam so fast and it overflowed out of my glass.

It has an odd flavour profile. It starts off... something. Sort of a pale ale? Then you get hit with a burst of citrus. And that lingers, but not overly so. The finish seems to change too. Before I tasted more clean hops, now I'm tasting bitter grapefruit. Maybe that's a sediment issue?

Because it doesn't appear to have been filtered; there are small chunks in my glass. But I like that. I intend to bottle condition all of my beer if I ever get around to making it. I really like the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and that's strong on citrus and non-filtered too.

Jason said he modeled his beer "target" on Sam Adams Summer Ale. But I like this one better than the Sam's Summer.

Good job, dude. Now I need to get started on my own.

UPDATE: (a whole four minutes after the post) The second beer poured very nicely in a controlled manner. Though now the head is gone. Need a happy medium... how do you get head to appear in a glass after it's poured?

Congrats to my brother Jason and his wife Letha on their new bundle of baby joy. They're all well, and he's a silly-looking lizard baby (as are they all).

I can't wait to tickle his feet.

My Family Rocks

I need to get back to Massachusetts more often.

Just got back from an awesome visit. Nothing great, just visiting with family and not eating seafood (booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!).

But it was hard to come back. The place felt homey like it hasn't in previous visits.

Oh well. I just have to go back really soon and see my relatives again. And add more of them to the list of the visited!

Welcome To The World, Big AL!

My new nephew Alan David Maier II entered this goofy world this past Thursday. It is planned for me to meet him here in Indy in early August though I hope to get out to Taxxachusetts sooner than that. I cannot wait to meet the little dude, even if he does look vaguely like a certain green and diminutive Jedi Master.

Is THAT a FISH?

Why, yes. Yes it is.

That's my nephew Drew on the left. He's not a fish. I love his face in this pic. I have no idea what that expression means. Drew's one silly cheeky monkey boy. I really miss not being there for this milestone. (And one I've not yet crossed to boot! I'll have to take pointers from him if we ever go fishing!)

Drew took six others that day too. All with his Spider-Man tackling kit. He put them all back, but he took 'em. Good job, buddy.

How Many Faux Pas Can I Commit In One Day?

My little brother got married on Saturday. I was the best man.

But - of course - I couldn't make it through the day without goofing up a few things.

I forgot to tell the bride she looked beautiful all day.

I forgot to make the toast during my best man speech AND got choked up. Badly. Luckily, Deb the main of honour made the toast for me.

I guess three mini goofs ain't TOO bad, but they're more than enough.

On the plus side: It was a very nice ceremony. And a perfectly beautiful day.

A wonderful start to their new life together.
