Making It Harder To Support Their Cause...

(mobile rings, unknown caller)

(paraphrasing)
Me: Unknown caller! What do you want?
Fuckhead: I want my money, bitch!
Me: Uh... excuse me?
Fuckhead: I want my money. Either I'm gonna get my money or you're gonna die.
Me: (... pause ...) Do you know what number you're calling?
Fuckhead: ............................. (hangs up)

It was either a nigger or a wigger. Making death threats and not even dialing right.

Honestly, I thought it was Shane fucking with me at first.

And so while I was typing this, I got another call. With a number ID this time, but not a number I know. It was a white-sounding bitch me asking for "Brian". I said "No, this isn't Brian." And the cunt hung up before I could tell her she's hanging around with some really stupid wastes of oxygen.

So drug dealers are getting my number as a target for their bullets.

How lovely.

Hey, maybe they'll burn down my house for me!

One can always hope.

UPDATE: How stupid was that bitch to call from a landline?

2nd UPDATE: Roci asks

"Did you give the number to the Man? ast (sic) I checked, communicating death threats is still a felony in most places.

If nothing else, it will cover you if your do have to bust a cap on his ass."

Well, technically speaking, I have no reason to link the 2nd phone call to the second. I'm sure the fuzz will say the same thing.

Interestingly enough, I had yet another phone call this evening from someone I don't know... asking for someone that ain't me.

Hell, lately I'm actually almost looking forward to the possible gunplay.

Does God get Surprised?

Does He ever hear someone make a piece of music like the YouTube video I linked to a bit down and just be overwhelmed with joy at what His creations have wrought?

I really hope so, for His sake.

Faith? Hope? Love?

Watching Shawshank Redemption just now... for some reason, it made me think of this song:

We see it on TV, we get calls on the phone

By the prophets of doom, they won't leave us alone.
The planet is dying and there's no time to spare.
They spend all our days sowing seeds of despair.
We get enough bad news to harden our hearts.
This fear that we feed on is what's keeping us apart.
To say that we're doomed is just an obvious remark.
And it don't make you right, it just keeps you in the dark.

I don't want to live angry, I don't want to live scared.
I don't need no more prophets crying "brother beware."
Just put some work in my hands and give me a dollar to spare.
And don't let me sow those seeds of despair.

Well, this earth is a graveyard, it will swallow our bones.
It was here long before us, It will be here when we're gone.
And it's a vain generation that looks for a sign.
Don't you think we could make better use of our time.
Yeah, the air could be cleaner and the water could too.
But what we do to each other are the worst things that we do.
And we can treasure our freedom behind our locked doors.
But God speed the day when we're lonely no more.

I don't want to live angry, I don't want to live scared.
I don't need no more prophets crying "brother beware."
Just put some work in my hands and give me a dollar to spare.
And don't let me sow those seeds of despair --- John Mellencamp, "Another Sunny Day 12/25"

I love this song. Probably his best.

I just wish I could manage more than the first of the three words in this blog title. This world is awfully good at beating us down, ain't it?

"Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things." - Andy Dufrane, Shawshank

Hard-hitting words.

I hope I can live out my life without the confrontation I fear is coming all too soon. I don't want to choose between living free and dying. I most of all hope I never have to pointedly face down the conflict between defending my life and living out what I believe my faith calls me to do. I have the deepest fear I am going to choose earthly justice and disappoint my Savior.

While I'm at it, I hope for a lithe, young, fertile blonde nympho who is Biblically complaint.

Well, heck... it's as likely as my other hopes.

Vox Day... You're My Hero

Speaking to someone advocating Obama's moronic plans for more control over our lives:

"You say you "still believe that well-spent government money can in theory supercharge an economy out of recession", but your stubborn faith is less well-placed than that of any religion. At least the Christian believes in the absence of what you would consider any positive evidence; you believe despite the fact that there is at least 1,700 years of negative evidence demonstrating the precise opposite. Think about the factors that would all have to be lined up properly for it to work - the politicians unconcerned with their reelections, the absence of competing interest groups - and then think about how low the probability is that a plan that is even theoretically targeted at the right areas will be drawn up in the first place."

Bet It Kicks Van Halen's Ass...

http://www.chickenfoot.us/

Not much at that link just yet, merely a silly little video.

But I'm really looking forward to this one. I think all four members of Chickenfoot are great players. This should be one seriously monster-sounding, balls-slamming-rock band.

In case you don't know, Chickenfoot is:
* Sammy Hagar from Van Halen
* Michael Anthony from Van Halen (Eddie is a serious asshole.)
* Chad Smith from the Chili Peppers and Wild Thornberries
* freaking Joe Satriani in his first "band" situation since he became famous as a solo artist in the mid-80's.

Michael Anthony lays it down and makes things feel really good. With him and the funky and slamming Chad Smith as the anchors, Sammy on vocals and guitar and FREAKING JOE SATRIANI... this ought to be good.

I just hope they tour and come here to Indy. And that decent tickets aren't in the Eagles range.

In The "A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day" Department...

... Zappa Plays Zappa won a Grammy for "Peaches En Regalia"!

It's actually one of my less favorite performances on the DVD / CD set, as its tempo is a bit too slow. (Most of the time I hear that tune, it's the Dixie Dregs doing their rendition - with Dweezil Zappa guest-starring - on their most excellent live CD "California Screaming".)

It is very nice to see such a rather obscure concert performance get a little recognition in our mass-consumption world.

If you like Frank Zappa's work at all, go get the 5 disc set (2 DVDs, 3 CDs) at Amazon HERE (free shipping!).

It's more than well-worth the money. Every member of the ZPZ band is a monster player. I really enjoy watching Joe Travers on the drums. He's a monster and pulls it off with a very nice touch on his DW kit. They also have Terry Bozzio spanking the skins on his own kit on a number of songs. The horns, the keys, the percussionist, the bassist and rhythm guitarist ... no one disappoints here. And Steve Vai as guest star on guitar for some tracks.

And last but not least, Dweezil's guitar work simply amazes. He surely does Frank's legacy proud.

More Kid Gloves for da Bitches...

http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/crime/article975924.ece

So a guy removes a woman from his truck without harming anyone, gets physically assaulted and it's all HIS fault.

Bloody fucking typical.

Now I have little sympathy for this guy. He should have been a stand-up dude and just gotten rid of this broad before banging someone else.

But after reading how a woman that shot her husband in the head, KILLED HIM, and then got off with probation cuz "she had an accidental discharge"... it sure does seem like open season on men in this country. With the full approval of the "justice" system.

I suppose I should have sympathy for the accidental murderess. After all: she's a widow, right?

It worked for the Menendez brothers... What the FUCK is wrong with this planet?

http://voxday.blogspot.com/2009/02/i-love-it-when-plan-comes-together.html

Some fun with a sick and twisted news item. Yes, we're sick for laughing at such a horrific thing. But it did happen here in America. And the perp's job makes it only the more amusing.

I guess Natalie Portman, though she's odd looking at times.

Other than her, I am drawing a freaking blank here.

EDIT: Okay, found another one. SI Swimsuit Issue cover model Bar Refaeli. Before looking at her, I'd never thought I'd want to bang a draft dodger.

Hardly Surprising...

I've never understood how anyone can claim to have any integrity in Congress when they vote "yes" on things they haven't even read. I don't care why, either. Be it because the bill was being shoved through or they're too lazy. No one can read 1000 page bills.

We so deserve the Hell that is coming.

After the whomping GAZILLION $$$$ bill that got passed yesterday, I figure this image is more than appropriate:

Scary Thoughts.

Why I Don't Trust Cops. ANY cops.
Cop suspect cops of being murdering scumbags and admits it publicly. Officer Johnson:
"Not that I don't trust the police," Johnson later commented to the Washington Post. "But I wanted to personally witness what [was] going to happen to my mayor, so if they [the SWAT team] say this guy went for a gun -- and he didn't -- it's not going to happen on my watch."

Roll that comment around in your mind for just a second.

Officer Johnson stayed behind
to make sure his mayor wasn't murdered by his fellow police officers.
That SHOULD bend your noodle more than a little. How often does this happen that a cop feels free to reveal his suspicions to a reporter?

That should be terrifying to you. Unless you, like me, root for Rambo to shoot the cops in First Blood. In which case, you're a threat to society and need to be put down like the mad dog you be. Or you're a statist douche of either the Republican or Democratic sort. In which case you probably think "omelettes, eggs... whatever". And in that case you're one truly sick fucker and you just don't have a clue.

Anyway, quote is from HERE.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Want to murder folks legally? Become a prosecutor! NO down side!

More chilling thoughts.

The United Nations WANTS YOU TO DIE! That's my logical conclusion after reading this article.

Mike's Music Madness

A few music reviews:

Brad Paisley - "Play"
Country artist Brad Paisley? Yup, you're on the right blog. I read about this one in a guitar mag. It's a mostly instrumental outing by Mr. Paisley and I have been wanting to get some more country music so I figured "Why not?".

Solid, good-feeling music with strong country music sensibility but more than enough smoking playing and creative tunes to keep me from getting bored. I really like Brad's soloing / melodic sense. He gets really sweet, awesome tone with those Telecasters too. He does tributes to surf music, jazz, da blues and a mish-mash of everything else too. All with a country tinge.

But EASILY the best thing about this excellent CD is track 13 "Playing With Fire". That is one... BAD... ASS!!!! track. Brad burns, shreds and sings on that freaking guitar! I would put that track up there with Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover". (That song comes to mind since Brad cops a semi-EJ vibe for it.) I was laughing with sheer joy listening to it for the first time. I was already liking this CD a lot before this one came on. Now I love it, even with the sappy love song final track (which is actually pretty dang good).

I put this review first since I am really glad to see this sort of thing done. It's very nice to see a high-profile country singer come out and do such an odd thing as an instrumental album. And to have it be a solid-sounding CD on top of it... that's just icing on the cake.

Of course, there's a really big down side about my liking this one. It made me realize that I don't own a Telecaster or even a Tele-copy.

Boston (self-titled)
Great classic rock CD. Catchy tunes, awesome guitars and vocals. Excellent drums & keys too. I don't care as much for "Hitch A Ride" or "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" but 6 really good songs out of 8 equals a great album to me.

Tom Scholz' tone is just incredible, it amazes me like few guitarists can. Tom, Neal Schon from Journey and Brian May all hit notes that are just indescribable. Just oozing with masterful tone.

Planet X - "Quantum"
I took a long time to buy this one because Tony MacAlpine left the band and I love his playing on the first two PX CDs. Now I'm kicking myself for waiting!

This is just SICK (read "amazing") rock fusion from keyboardist Derek Sherinian and Virgil Donati on the drums, plus a bunch of awesome guests. Brett Garsed does an amazing job on most of the guitar tracks, with the legendary Alan Holdsworth doing the honours for two of the tracks. Brett's guitar solo on the first track is worth the purchase of the disc all by itself.

Prime Mover: This is instrumental Dream Theater on crack. In a good way. IMHO, Derek Sherinian's solo CDs' output kills DT in every way since 2000.

Paul Gilbert - "Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar"
Pablo Gilberto is just freaking awesome. An instrumental CD with great playing... blah, blah, blah... It's Paul Gilbert! And it has a track titled "Paul vs. Godzilla"! What more do you need to know? Go get it.

Or you suck.

Two More Bourbons off the List...

Gentleman Jack. Off my list. It was on special last night up at "The Spot". At least the Sam Adams helped kill the taste. (Fallon took a sip and was disgusted.)

Pogue. Unfortunately, I bought a bottle of this one without asking for a sample. $3 more than my go-to Makers Mark and nowhere near as good. Maybe mixing it with Coke will save the bottle. I guess I could try it in a Manhattan too.

Oh well. Live & learn.

#2. A MUST for any husband to use on his wife. A little too soft for my tastes, though.
#3. Where's the necklace? (Actually, I'm just not understanding this one.)
#4. HOT! I like that idea too.
#5. Again: HOT!
#6. Colour me Monet.
#7. Ehhh... I bet I already have better on my PC.
#8. Silly but I'd go along with it.
#9. I LIKE that idea. Many interesting possibilites.
#10. Ditto #9, though maybe in a different shape.

http://www.lulu.com/content/4956212

What does one say?

More creamy goodness here. I would say "funny as fuck" but considering the subject matter...

Yes, I Googled the book after finding the first link from here. I am one warped puppy.

What The Hell?

AMC is speeding up movies to get more movie into less time. How supremely gay. Everybody on First Blood sounds like a fucking midget.

And you KNOW you're a libertarian when you're watching Rambo knock the asshole cop off of the chopper (killing him) then later shooting the sheriff and you think "Yeah, they all really did have it coming."

... sure weren't hurting anyone...

My take on Steve Miller. Michael Phelps is one serious dumbass. You're Michael Phelps. You've been on every network... blah, blah, blah...

If you're a celebrity and you smoke a bowl in public, you've demonstrated some serious lack of judgment. You're just BEGGING to be selectively prosecuted by a stupidly overzealous fascist government agency of one kind or another.

So Michael Phelps: you were drunk, but you should have known better. You should have someone watching you so you don't do this sort of shit and pay dearly for it later.

That said, anyone that voted for Clinton, Bush, Gore or Obama in their respective races shouldn't have anything bad to say about Michael Phelps' toking in and of itself. The hypocrisy would reek like bad weed.

Especially in Obama's case where he voluntarily admitted to cocaine use, but thinks the Drug War is still A-OK!

But hypocrisy is typical of our illegal alien prez. He wants government to be transparent, but refuses to release his birth certificate. He wants you to freeze or boil in your home to save energy, but cranks the White House thermostat cuz "I'm from Hawaii!". He wants you to pay your "fair share" of taxes, but commits tax fraud by taking deductions on a house he doesn't own. On and on and on and on...

Fucking little douchebag cunt.
