Sounds Like An Excellent Strategy
Before the U.S. House of Representatives on August 1, 2007
Madame Speaker, I rise to introduce the Congressional Responsibility and Accountability Act. This bill requires Congress to specifically authorize via legislation any proposed federal regulation that will impose costs on any individual of at least $5,000, impose costs on a business or other private organization of at least $25,000, impose aggregate costs on the American people of at least $250,000, or cause any American to lose his or her job.
According to some legal experts, at least three-quarters of all federal laws consist of regulations promulgated by federal agencies without the consent, or even the review of, Congress. Allowing unelected, and thus unaccountable, executive agencies to make law undermines democracy. Law-making by executive agencies also violates the intent of the drafters of the Constitution to separate legislative and executive powers. The drafters of the Constitution correctly viewed separation of powers as a cornerstone of republican government and a key to protecting individual liberty from excessive and arbitrary government power.
Congress’s delegation of law-making authority to unelected bureaucrats has created a system that seems to owe more to the writings of Franz Kafka than to the writings of James Madison. The volume of regulations promulgated by federal agencies and the constant introduction of new rules make it impossible for most Americans to know with any certainty the federal laws, regulations, and rules they are required to obey. Thus, almost all Americans live with the danger that they may be hauled before a federal agency for an infraction they have no reasonable way of knowing is against the law.
While it is easy for members of Congress to complain about out-of-control federal bureaucrats, it was Congress that gave these agencies the ability to create laws. Since Congress created the problem of lawmaking by regulatory agencies, it is up to Congress to fix the problem and make certain that all federal laws are passed by the people’s elected representatives. Therefore, Madame Speaker, I urge my colleagues to cosponsor the Congressional Responsibility and Accountability Act.
This is the stuff Dr. Paul should be pushing publicly. This sort of thing never gets talked about. At least it would differentiate him from the field of idiots the Republicans are running.

I Should Not Be Surprised...
"The Mississippi River Basin is the largest river basin in the world, and stretches from New York to Idaho and from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. In the course of American history, the river often flooded, but not until 1927 had so many people been killed and left homeless and never had such a large land area been covered by water. It was the greatest flood in history, but this fact is not as well known: government caused it."
I knew that men have attempted to "lasso" the Mississippi for a long time, I just had no idea the level of insanity (or maybe just simple human hubris?) involved.
"The mighty Mississippi River had literally been lifted above ground level in many places."
I knew that New Orleans was actually below sea level. I thought this was because of dredged out land that used to be swamp. I never considered that it was also due to the water rising around it too.
"The original 7.5 foot levee at Morganza, Louisiana, was able to maintain the Great Flood of 1850 but by the 1920s the levee required a 38-foot height to hold the same amount of water. In the Great Flood of 1927 the Durina Levee broke, flooding 175,000 acres. When the levee at Mounds Landing broke, water covered one million acres with water ten feet deep. Estimates place the death toll in the Mississippi Delta alone at as high as 1,000 people. Damage estimates ranged as high as 1 billion (1927) dollars."
No wonder New Orleans was devastated so badly. Amazing how we ignore history time and time again. Sad too.
Sadder still that a good number of us turn to the government to fix these problems when they made so many of them in the first place.

More Gov't Idiocy!
Wow:
Carrillo reportedly said: "I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Border Patrol's job is not to stop illegal immigrants. The Border Patrol's job is not to stop narcotics or contraband or narcotics the Border Patrol's mission is not to stop criminals. The Border Patrol's mission is to stop terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the country."
Can't add much more to that one.
Sure... why not? From HERE:
The Justice Department is co-sponsoring a convention held by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) — an unindicted co-conspirator in an ongoing federal terrorist funding case — a move that is raising concerns among the Justice's rank and file.
And some more stupidity. A bunch of wetbacks get picked up by immigration officials doing their job (FOR ONCE) and the whiners show up in no time. From HERE:
"These are working people, these are family people, they are keeping our economy growing. They should not be arrested. What's happening to their children?" said Dan LaBotz, carrying a sign reading "Stop the attack on immigrant families."
and
ICE said those who had been detained would be taken to a processing facility in the Cincinnati area and procedures to remove them from the United States would begin. But it noted that some may be released for humanitarian reasons -- for example, the sole caregiver to children.
Oh, I'm sure wetbacks wouldn't fucking LIE and say "I'm the only person that can take care of my "Shouldn't-Be-A-Citizenry-Wetback-Offspring". Why do I suspect that this is a loophole big enough for Rosie O'Donnell to walk through?

RE: Southron Sweet Tea
I loved this quote: "As an April Fools' Day prank in 2003, Georgia State Rep. John Noel introduced a bill that would have made it a misdemeanor for a restaurant owner not to include sweet tea on the menu."
Now the inevitable bullshit part. It seems every Slate article has it: "The South reveres its traditions, and sweet tea is one of them. Dixie has had some embarrassments in its time: There's that whole Civil War thing,"
Dipshit. Do any real Southroners actually talk like that? Besides them there Atlanta types, that is...

How Stupid Do They Think We Are?
"The store was bright, airy, and empty—the two saleswomen were thrilled to see us. I hoped to find some pants that didn't sit below my daughter's hip bone. Talbots had them, and I showed her a pair in navy blue. My daughter shook her head. "They're like nautical pants. They're so ugly." Then I held up a pair of beige polyester pants that looked reasonable to me.
"Mom, I'm 11!" she said. "I'm not Harriet Miers!"
Hmmmmmmmmmm... I smell BULLSHIT! What a lying douche.
No "tween" KID is going to pull a Harriett Miers reference out of her ass. EVER. Even if by some stupidly outlandish chance the kid KNEW who Miers was, she'd never reveal her total geekiness by saying that.
Why do writers insult our intelligence?
Not that folks in person don't do it too. I had a guy tell me his 10-year old grandson is a BADASS guitarist.
I figured, okay. Grandfatherly pride... okay.
Then he tells me that he was watching someone play live somewhere and the guy messed up. So he turned to the kid and said "Did he miss a note?"
And the kid "said": "I think he missed two!"
Again: BULLSHIT.

Good Reason To Really Check Out Churches...
Might this kind of SICK nonsense be why Bush wanted the government to get all cozy with the churches?
I wouldn't put it past the bastard wetback lover Jorge Bush. (May he die painfully of untreated appendicitis.)
""In order to convince American citizens to surrender their firearms to the government during a time of martial law, DHS is enlisting the assistance of America's pastors. According to the DHS, my job as a church pastor, is to tell my congregation that, according to Romans 13, they must surrender their firearms when the government asks them to do so."
I do appreciate the writer pointing this BS out, but I must disagree with his idea that Christians somehow owe their loyalty to the Constitution. Simply put: what if it's lawfully amended to include evil ideas? At what point do thinking Christians have the right - hell, THE DUTY!!! - to put it and their foul government aside?

More wetback fun HERE:
QUOTE: The Supreme Court has found "entry" is done only at "a particular locality" and therefore "hardly suggests continuity."
In other words, if you enter illegally without being caught, being here illegally isn't a crime.
So if I'm carrying a severed head, that hardly suggests "continuity" from the crime of the murder where I severed said head. Right?
Thanks for reminding me to talk about this, Difster.

Whatta Mooroon!
This pussy douche is whining because he fabricated a situation where he violated federal laws on firearm purchases. And then he bragged about it in print and on the radio. And now the feds are looking up his arse.
I think the word "DUH!" applies quite aptly here. I think it would be amusing to see his dumbass end up in prison for his stupidity.
So of course, taking a page from the Hillary Clinton Liberal Douchebag Playbook (2007 edition), he's whinging about a vast Right-Wing Gun Lobby Conspiracy! What a total pussy.
This article illustrates a few things:
1) Newspaper writers are very often idiots.
2) Pussified anti-gun liberals hate being called to account for their own stupid actions, even when they're in violation of the law. Mostly because they think THEY should be above the law. Cuz, you know, they're such "bright" folks and pointing out how evil guns are is more important than the law.
3) There are laws that just shouldn't be on the books. Even if they do send dipshit liberals to jail.

Funny Money
The answer lies in the nature of our banking system, in the fact that both commercial banks and thrift banks (mutual-savings and savings-and-loan) have been systematically engaging in fractional-reserve banking: that is, they have far less cash on hand than there are demand claims to cash outstanding. For commercial banks, the reserve fraction is now about 10 percent; for the thrifts it is far less.
This means that the depositor who thinks he has $10,000 in a bank is misled; in a proportionate sense, there is only, say, $1,000 or less there. And yet, both the checking depositor and the savings depositor think that they can withdraw their money at any time on demand. Obviously, such a system, which is considered fraud when practiced by other businesses, rests on a confidence trick: that is, it can only work so long as the bulk of depositors do not catch on to the scare and try to get their money out. The confidence is essential, and also misguided. That is why once the public catches on, and bank runs begin, they are irresistible and cannot be stopped."
From HERE.
Most folks do not have a clue how banking works. They have a checking account and it works the way it's supposed to, so they figure all is well.
But if the 10% reserve fact shocks you, read "Whatever Happen To Penny Candy". You can likely get it from your local library. I bought a copy but I could only find it in softcover. After reading that, which is shocking enough, move on to Murray Rothbard's book "America's Great Depression".
Our money is a lie. It's all smoke and mirrors. But the same banks that will destroy your life over a debt get bailed out by YOUR tax dollars when they make investments that are completely unsound. You know, like giving wetbacks home loans. Or the S&L scandals of the 80's.

Yup! Gotta Trust The Cops! At ALL Times!
"Jarrell Bray, a longtime informant for the Drug Enforcement Administration's Cleveland field office, admitted that with the cooperation of DEA agent Lee Lucas, he had repeatedly lied in court to secure the convictions of innocent people. Bray said he and Lucas fabricated evidence, falsely accused people who had done nothing wrong, then concocted bogus testimony to secure their convictions."
I don't usually advocate the death penalty, but this DEA agent and other authorities like him deserve to be gutshot and left to rot and die.

I'm Sure The Lawyers Are Already Preparing...
So I'm looking at my Oficial X-Box Magazine about "Halo Wars" a cool RTS game. And I notice there are new vehicles in the picture called "Wolverines". I look more closely at a picture (same as THIS ONE).
80's pop culture geeks, does it look familiar? It should. It's the exact same as THIS.
Yup. Bungie's made their "Wolverine" the same as Hasbro's G.I.Joe "Wolverine" vehicle. It came with the chick "Cover Girl".
Weird coincidence there, huh? I really don't think there was ever a "Wolverine" vehicle in the U.S. Army. But I could be wrong.
Halo Wars looks very cool regardless.

Amazon.com Is TOO DAMN NICE!
I might just cry I'm so grateful.
MORE Caves!
My mom, niece and I went to the Wyandotte Caves today. Very cool. This set of caves was entirely walked, instead of being on the boat nearly the whole time like a few weeks ago.
There are a few hundred stairs (if not more, I didn't count) in there. And it was COLD. There are two caves in this tour, the first was short and kind of lame. But it just whets your appetite for the BIG cave tour. It took a good hour and a half at least. Lots of ups. Lots of downs. Slippery rocks. Low ceilings. A lot of fun.
And BATS. They're really kind of cute. And much smaller than expected as well. I wonder how they taste?
They also have "crawl tours" where you go caving for real. With the miner's hat and lots of tight squeezes. That sounds awesome. But I'd have to go with the guys for that sort of thing. And I really doubt we could get a large group to coordinate days off for a trip like that. Bummer. Oh well.
Still a fun day. Too bad the cameras don't work down there well at all. Lots of great sights to see.

I Hope The Celtics Win The Championship Next Season
So I checked out ESPN.com and found out that Reggie Miller is thinking of un-retiring and going to Boston.
Now I'm not an NBA fan. I stopped caring watching the refs fucks the Pacers in the Playoffs year after year. And while I don't think the Pacers had the team needed to take the Finals vs. LA, they were still fucked by the refs. And that killed my interest in the Pacers completely.
That's my biggest gripe about the NBA: preferential treatment to the stars. I don't care what ANYONE says, the superstars like Shaq and MJ got TONS of calls they didn't deserve. Not every time they touched the ball, but enough to easily give them some games they shouldn't have won.
And that's why the recent refs scandal didn't faze me. Cuz the NBA has manipulated the outcomes of games for well over a decade via the refs.
All that said, I really hope Reggie goes there and they clean up all season and sweep the Finals against LA.
I loved Reggie on the Pacers. But I would like to see him get the ring. I really hope he gets it.
I won't watch, but it would be funny. Just cuz it would annoy Shane, for one thing.

Lawyers Are Not Your Friends
Unless you own one, are sleeping with one, are related to one, or have some other exceptional relationship with one, no lawyer will ever work for you. You might hire one, pay him exorbitant fees, and even cry on his shoulder, but he will never work for you. He will work firstly for himself and secondly for the court. No matter what he might say or even believe, what is best for you will never be his priority. He will work to protect the legal status quo, to protect the legal system, and especially to line his pockets. Only when all that has been accomplished will he remember you.
Sounds like good advice to remember, except how do you OWN a lawyer?
