Statist Propaganda?

I sometimes wonder. There's this new film coming out called "Law Abiding Citizen". It's about a guy that takes revenge for his family being murdered. He kills the guy that did it and I guess the judge, etc. etc.

I want to see it, simply because 1) the justice system sucks and 2) I love seeing govt dipsticks getting their comeuppance.

But I wonder if this film isn't being made to show the dangers of govt agents run amok. As in, to make it easier for the populace to see soldiers, spec war operatives and spooks as "a danger to the system".

After all, the Dept of "Justice" has already targeted veterans as being possible terrorist threats. And the feds have already been revealed as having bribed filmmakers and TV networks to further their agendas.

Thoughts?

Just more proof Obama is a statist moron. Does he honestly believe that 120 months (130 if you include kindergarten) of state-run school really aren't enough to teach kids?

The other day I read the stunning figure that it takes only 100 hours of instruction to teach reading and basic math skills.

That's "instruction", not "hours in school". Of course, I'm guessing that's instruction where the instructor gives half a shit and the kid is actually made to learn.

Neither of which really applies in the schools where learning is a problem. Kids can learn if motivated. Most will motivate themselves in the proper environment.

So K-High school is insufficient and Obama thinks the answer is making the kids stay in school more hours a day and more through the year.

....Why would that ever work? More of the exact same idiocy applied is going to produce better results?

Dewey's model is a failure at almost everything except making more socialist drones to be exploited.

Adding more time on the calendar is only going to piss off teachers, students and some parents (Many, I'm sure, will be happy to spare themselves their kids' company during the summer).

Just more evidence Obama doesn't get what the problems really are. Pathetic.

And I suppose I'm a racist for pointing out that the federal government has zero legal say-so in the affairs of public schools?

Of course, folks tend to forget that one of the very first Patriot Act prosecutions was against a dude for fraud. They prosecuted him for "Paper Terrorism". I wish that was a joke.

Oh, you didn't realize you were breaking the law when you did? Had zero criminal intent, did ya? Doesn't matter, Granny. You're getting bent over and publicly humiliated.

The vile part of this story is that the prosecutor ADMITS there was no criminal intent. That bitch could simply choose not to prosecute, but she has to show the peasants who's boss.

Indiana defendants have a clearly-delineated constitutional right to argue that a criminal law is unjust at trial (Article 1, section 19 of the IN state constitution). If more honest, intelligent folks would sit on trail juries, maybe we could get these laws ignored.

But the sad truth is that far too many jurors are on the side of the prosecution from the word "go". They look at a defendant as having to have done something wrong, else they'd not be there.

Considering all the retarded laws on the books, making criminals out of almost anyone, that needs to change.

I'd like to say cases like this might wake folks up to the massive police state we've become (the largest in history, by the way). But it's going to take some folks until they're IN the death camps to wake the fuck up.

Guitar Hero... Needs To Be Improved

I have zero interest in those games, except maybe the drumset. And my nephew had broken his when I was visiting so no dice.

I keep hoping someone will make a MIDI input for a Guitar Hero type game. Then you can actually play a REAL instrument and better yourself as a player while rocking out the game at the same time.

Mmmmmmmmmmm .... Garlic ...

I don't remember how, but I ended up finding one of this guy's YouTube videos. He's whacky and fun but the videos and his blog go far in showing what's needed to make yummy stuff.

So after drooling and thinking about how good this particular one probably was, the other day I made this garlic aioli stuff.



The aioli came together really easily, much easier than I had expected. If you read on sauces, folks whine about breaking sauces really easily. But this method worked perfectly.

I put about half the aioli on toasted french bread and it was heavenly. If you go to the supermarket, you often see pre-garliced bread. That stuff is crap. THIS is the real deal. I imagine it might be even better if you smeared it on the bread and then baked it. But I didn't think of that until just now.

After scarfing down the bread, I had about half the aioli left. So I started dipping my garden's cherry and grape tomatoes into it. More bliss.

The next night I finished the aioli off with more toasted bread.

The only thing I think that would have improved it was a little Kosher salt (which I added) and fresh lemon juice instead of the bottled stuff I had on hand.

So today I put together this:



Smelling it after pureeing, I can only say the Anchormanesque "Pungent!" came to mind.

But now I'm letting it soak in the garlic goodness overnight. So I need to find something else to eat tonight besides a salad.

Anyway, if you like garlic then you should try the aioli. It really is as easy as the video appears and it's very, very yummy.

Forgot To Brag on ME! THE MIGHT WHITE HUNTER!!!!

I went visiting family last month out in Taxxachusetts. And I was able to go fishing with my brothers, my nephew and some friends.

And on my very first cast, I caught my first fish. As in first in my life, ever.

Now, this thing looked pretty big to me. But receiving the pictures from my brother... I'm going to skip posting them for two simple reasons.

One, I look like a dork. In general anyway, but especially in these two pics.

Two, the fish looks, well... minuscule.

We were doing catch & release and I didn't measure the thing so I have no idea how long it was.

Trust me. It looks ridiculously small in the pics.

But I had fun and other than ripping the thing's face apart while removing the hook (on the advice of my older brother: "Just rip it out. It won't hurt it."), I don't think I'll be squeamish about ripping the guts out of the fishies and eating the suckers if I find waters worth fishing in.

I can't wait.
