Shane's Puppy Is Too Adorable...

... to be owned by him.

A real shame. Shane is such a mean, mean, mean owner.

But he does have a completely adorable itty-bitty puppy.

I kept giggling like an idiot watching this tiny little thing running about like some animal. He's a trip to watch.

So yeah, I like Snoopy. Even if he did hump my leg. (He's so small I didn't even feel it happening through my jeans.)

Between this and the re-run of "The Critic" I watched on the Reel channel tonight, I feel as though I'm on drugs myself.

I Miss Drake...

Him barking at everything that passed by my yard... and sometimes seemingly at nothing.

Him being there to goof with and play fetch.

Me starving him by only giving him half-rations for a month cuz I stupidly can't do math.

Him peeing on my kitchen floor... okay, I won't miss that part.

But I saw this handicapped guy in a powered wheelchair go by with a black Rottie while I was mowing the lawn today. And I really started missing that little pain in the ass Drake.

He drove me nuts while he was here. But I really miss him now that he's gone.

What a Bummer.

Since My Brother Isn't Posting Any...

Here are a few more pics of Drake. All together now: "AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!"

And a few with him and sis together. Drake has the blue collar, Kaylee the purple.

Faster than the speed of my phone cam!

A nice pic of Jason blocking my shot...

Doggie Diary Part 8 - KILLER GUARD DOG!

(AKA "Drake looking out my kitchen door")

He still doesn't really get the game of "Fetch". He plays it more like "Keep away from Mikey". That's fine. Chasing him around my backyard gives us both exercise.

But I cheat and keep a pocket full of broken-up treats. It's an easy way to make him drop the ball.

Plus, I have also learned he quickly surrenders and drops it if I pick him up off of the ground completely. I guess he doesn't like four dangling legs.

And I am pleased to report Drake finds the ball much easier in the now-cut lawn. Whoodda thunk it?

Bonus pic:

This wasn't today. I just love this pic. ("He killed Drake!" "That bastard!")

Doggie Diary Part 7... "No! YOUR Right!"

So we were playing Fetch out back.

Yes, that was actual human-to-canine dialog delivered by me about 15 minutes ago. Attempting to help him find the tennis ball.

Needless to say, Drake needs to work on his directions and I need to mow my lawn.

Doggie Diary Part 6

Dog puke is harder to clean up than dog pee.

Luckily it was just water and mucous.

Aren't you glad I share?

Doggie Diary Part 5

Drake is snoring... I don't want to wake him to walk him... I know he CAN last over 9 hours in the kennel.

I guess I'll let the sleeping dog lie.

Doggie Diary Part 4

Day nine, whatever...

Having allergic reaction to dog. Skin erupting in nasty hives, couldn't breathe too well late last week.

Taking too much Benadryl, without fully countering allergic effects. High all the time, very sleepy.

Screwing up my work life. Not that I much care. Screwing up my Halo 3 playing... this I do care about.

Housebreaking Drake is going well. He's pooping regularly now too, something I wasn't sure he was doing. He peed in the kitchen on Saturday, but not since. And the kennel has been dry for longer than that.

But he's not taking to the bell trick. Maybe because I'm not being consistent enough. But when I get home from work, I'm much more concerned about getting him OUT than remembering to try and force his nose to ring the bell. He seems quite averse to the bell anyway.

He's not that bad of a dog. I just wish my body was reacting better to him.

Doggie Diary Day 3

After cutting down on his room in his kennel last night, Drake kept it dry overnight and all day while I was at work, some nine hours. Much better!

So I took him for a two+ mile walk today, probably too much for both of us! He still needs some leash work, he especially likes to try and set a much faster pace than I'd like. But for the most part, he's good on the leash. He seems as though he wants to meet every dog we come across. This little ratlike Chihuahua was running loose in the neighborhood down the street from my Dad's house. Drake wanted to play, but I wouldn't let him and the nervous little creature skittled away.

He behaving himself enough now I'm letting him run around the kitchen outside the crate. I hope he keeps up his good bathroom habits. He's been so good today.

Though I think he needs his nails trimmed. I hear them clicking on the kitchen tile.

Can I Get A List?

Of things that are SO fucking disgusting that a dog will NOT stick it in their mouth?

That list has got to be awfully fucking short.

I don't even know what it was I just pried from Drake's mouth. I'm quite sure I don't want to know what it was either. I won't describe it for the sake of my meager audience.

But the stench is making me ill. I just rubbed whiskey up my nostrils to get the scent gone.

One Doggie Bath Down...

And just as quickly rendered useless.

EMERGENCY VENTING = BEGIN

I took Drake out back and hosed him down. He didn't like that or the lathering up. I could sympathize, it was a bit chilly out and I got plenty wet too. But we got all the way through the rinse cycle with him trying to wrestle away the whole time.

It was some work to get it done, but truth be told... I had fun.

Okay, fine.

Get Drake inside and give him some water and some food. Take him for a quick bathroom walk.

Okay, fine.

Put Drake in kennel and go to Lowes for some wire mesh and some zippy ties to make his too-large kennel smaller.

Gone for less than 40 minutes. Return. Drake has pissed all over the kennel and is sitting in it.

Okay, NOT fine.

I realize this is sort of a rescue dog operation in which I'm participating. He's not been trained and he's some nine months or so old at this point.

But Drake really needs to give me a LITTLE bit of a break here.

Okay, back to fine after a little internal screaming.

Take Drake out, walk him again, clean kennel. Allow kennel to dry while bending the wire fence into shape.

Less than 30 minutes of working on this, Drake pisses right next to me. No whining warning whatsoever.

Yell at dog profusely, he looks chagrined. Take him outside AGAIN.

Pour shot of whiskey.

Getting back to fine, except I am covered in dog hair and urine wash-off and it's thundering something fierce. So I'm a little too hesitant to go take a blazing hot shower. So here I sit on one knee in front of my PC, nekkid. Waiting for the storm to pass so I can wash mahself something fierce. Probably everything, top to bottom. Twice. Maybe thrice, as completely scummy as I feel.

God, grant me forbearance. Lots. ASAP. Please?

(And I think I want kids sometimes?)

Now My House Smells Like Dog...

That's Drake on the left. I'm "dog sitting" for a month so he can go join his sister Kaylee out east. That's Boston, the brown dog in the middle. The third dog is Carl, my dad. I thought Drake should meet the other canine in the extended family.

I took him for a walk around the block and then fed him. Then took him out back and he played some good, enthusiastic fetch for a bit.

Now we're vegging out for a bit, waiting for a friend to come visit.

Next up: doggie bath. I'm not looking forward to it.

I Wouldn't Even Do This To My Dog, Let Alone Me Or My Kids

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=57557

I am thinking about getting a dog next summer. If it doesn't have a chip, it's not getting one. If it does, I might just have it removed.

My brothers golden retriever had a big tumor on his neck. I have to wonder if that's where the chip was.
